Hair Transplant Method

 Our expert surgeons use advanced techniques such as Follicular unit extraction (FUT) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUE) to move hair from thick areas to thinning or balding areas producing a natural-looking and permanent result. In some cases, our surgeon may recommend a combination of FUE and FUT method to harvest more hairs than using a single method. Most patients require between 1,000-2,000 grafts, with a small percentage of clients needing 4,000 grafts. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a cutting-edge hair transplant method where individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area of the scalp using specialised micro punches typically ranging from 0.6-1.0mm in diameter. It is great for short hairstyles. 

Surgery Process 

Step 1 Harvest

On the surgery day, local anaesthesia will be applied. The donor area will be shaved based on the one of 3 shaving method you have chosen:

Full Shaving Method: fastest and easiest way to do the FUE procedure. The hair that needs to be extracted can easily be identified and harvested. The downside is that there will be visible holes on the donor area for a few weeks as the head is healing.

Partial Shaving Method: allows you to leave the hair long at the back and only remove hair from the donor section. The shaved area is covered by the remaining hair.

Minimal Shaving: the most difficult method which requires the most skill. The doctor will extract the hair from the donor area without shaving the hair.

After that, the doctor will use a special hole punch machine to extract the hair follicles from the back of the head. FUE hair transplantation surgery is still incisional surgery, which will form multiple circular scars spread across larger area, however surgeon’s technique will ensure no scar is visible. Once a sufficient amount of grafts have been extracted, the doctor then moves on to the transplant phase. 

Step 2 Transplantation

Involves scoring the skin around a hair follicle and carefully plucks out the hair graft with tweezers. The assistant uses tools to divide the grafts, which ranges from one to several hairs, ensuring a variety of graft thicknesses necessary for a natural-gradient hair transplant. The doctor uses a special tool to then implant the hair into the scalp. The doctor takes great care to make sure the hair is inserted in the natural direction of the hair growth.

2. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)

The FUT hair transplant (strip surgery) is especially effective in covering receding hairlines and is best suited for men with male pattern baldness and women experiencing hair thinning at the top of their head. It is recommended for longer hairstyles. 

Surgery Process

Step 1 Harvest

Involves extraction of a strip of skin from the scalp where there are a lot of hair follicles in it  (usually the back or side of your head). Individual hair follicles are then meticulously removed and prepared for transplantation. Even though this leaves a linear scar, it’s usually hidden by your hair.

2. Arrive in South Korea & Hairline Design (Day 1)

After airport pickup, visit the hospital with our client manager to have an in-person consultation with the doctor to finalise hairline design. 

3. Surgery day preparation & surgery (Day 1)

Surgery can be done on the same day of in-person consultation. Our translator will assist medical team to make process seamless. The surgery involves harvesting and transplantation. We'll also explain post-surgery cares and medications

4. Post-op Care (Day 2)

One day after your surgery, you will come back to the hospital to have a follow-up with your surgeon before leaving Seoul. At the same time, we will provide post-op treatments, shampoo service and laser treatment to strengthen hair follicles.

5. Stitches removal (FUT method)

You may return home 2-3 days after the surgery. Dissolvable stitches will be used. We'll provide medical documents for you to have the stitches removed in your home country at any time.
